Will Mad Max 4 be filmed in 2012? Your thoughts?

Right now with Happy Feet Two bombing, the Dr. D shuttering, and the revelation that Miller doesn't have the location down yet is an ominous sign to me that MM4 WILL NOT be filmed in 2012.

What say you? Do you think Miller will be filming in a few short months? How about 2013? Hopefully someone can cheer me up by convincing me my suspicions are wrong.

Anyone who ever thought the movie was ever going to be made in the first place were just hopelessly clinging to a straw ... We all know it won't ever be made.

(but I'm still hoping, with fingers crossed, that I might be wrong )

That article does little to ease concerns. We've heard that sort of thing many times before, only to be told later that filming will be delayed for whatever reason. No doubt taking it to Namibia isn't an easy decision to make, but from what I understand, conditions in and around their Australian locations might remain unacceptable for at least the next couple of years or more. But I believe that this time the studio backing the film will not tolerate (pay for) any further delays of that magnitude. So I think it's make or break time. Either Miller makes it next year in Namibia or he doesn't make it. Period.

As for Happy Feet 2, I don't think it will have any effect on FR. Director Zack Snyder made 3 duds in a row (Watchmen, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Sucker Punch) and Warner Bros still gave him the keys to the Superman franchise. Besides, according to this Holly'd Reporter article, the studio execs liked HF2 and are basically blaming it's non-performance on other things. At least that's what they're saying.

Dr. D is being shuttered because there's nothing for anyone to do there for the next year or so. The way it sounds, though, the closure might be permanent. Miller spoke of plans to start a new company early next year. This new company might fill in for Dr. D on FR.

I stil don't get why they are going to Africa. The USA has many suitable roads and locations, and on top of that the infrastructure and expertise are there. It would make for a less stressful shoot I am sure.

The problem seems to be with the green locale that will remain for a few years in Australia. Like Namibia the US has some pretty impressive and permanent wasteland locales, and if one moves venues, I would go with a moe stable region that has all the expertise right around the corner.
