Karol,

Cool job on the cobras on your truck!! Did you do some airbrushing? Have decals or magnets made? Just curious, cuz' I have a 72 f100 waiting in the wings for my XA wipeout project to get done, so it can become my next replica......unless I go for the 71 torino "Persuit Special" idea.... then it might have to wait a bit more.....we'll see.

I bought some small cans of latex paint from Home Depot and painted them on myself. Unlike the original F100, though, I painted the same snake on both sides. I wanted to keep it symetrical.

Is a boat windshield street legal? Is it an F100 tow truck?

Cool Karol,

I will be doing the truck as "Movie Correct" as I can, sans the RHD as its a USA model (sobs quitely), so I will have to do both versions of the snake. The boat windshield is street legal, IF, like on a motorcycle you wear EYE PROTECTION, however it may come in over the minimum windshield size for a "Convertable" and be ok....

As for the "Tow Truck", I did considerable reasearch, and I have found that (in the USA at least) the F100 does not have the chassis strength to be a proper tow truck, I believe that F250 is the lowest grade of proper tow truck chassis (please correct me if I am wrong) but it looks like the "Tow" rig on that truck in the film is probably a dummy, or robbed out of a bigger truck (if it is truly a F100, anyone get a close look at the "Model Badge" when they went to B2TM (its just painted over red, in the film, but I think I remember a blue spot where it should have been in the B2TM pics))........

I swear I saw a flat black F100 tow truck driving around last month. What about the ones in Mad Max? Aren't those F100 tow trucks???

As far as I know, the only visible diffrences (not including the chassis, which is the REAL diffrence in the f series trucks of that vintage), is the grills, the F# emblem on the sides of the hood, and some small bits of trim (I think)... presuamably the filmmakers could have substituted an f100 grill on the cobra truck(or maybe the grills are different there), and you will notice that the black "f100" windshiledless towtruck in the film has no grill. I dont really know for sure, but most of the ford truckies I've chatted to about this have said an f100 chassis isint good enough for a tow rig....experts please chime in here.....
