cobra truck tribute

Hey, new to the site, but have been reading for about 3 months getting info. I have a '67 f-100 shortbed that was destined for the scrapyard. A good friend of mine dared me to build the red cobra truck from Road Warrior. So this is the beginning of the build thread of my truck.
I have already decided that this will be a "tribute" truck due to issues with the build. Obviously, the steering being left hand will force a mirror image build. I will be driving this truck to drive and have fun in, so the bench seat will stay so three can ride along. A fix will have to be found for the lack of taillights. I have found a few posts from people stating this truck should be a very simple build, but I have found comming up with a plan for building the windscreen problematic.
I am posting this build for the comments and critiques, so feel free to chime in. Tomorrow I will post a little more about myself and pics of the truck at this point.

It is always cool to get new people on here, particularly ones planning a cool build.
Also nice choice (if I do say so myself). I am in the middle of teardown of my 1972 F100 shortie, which is also on the "Cobra F100" block. You should see my build thread bumped up when I get the next update in (been frozen out over the winter).

I like the trubute idea, but mine will be moreof a strict replica (except for the RHD feature, unless I can get a proper f100 cab and steering linkage shipped in the next MMC container).

Thanks! A little bit of how I got here, my 19yr old son bought a '72 long bed and this '67shortbed. The '67 was in bad shape body wise, and he likes the long bed better. (I just raised him, can't give him taste). He swapped the grills, and all the better parts for his truck. So I am building from his left over parts. Now some picks.

I confess I am doing it a little diffrent. Dissassemble, Media Blast, Body Panel Repair (on what I am keeping).... THEN cutting it up. Gives me a bit more time to plan everything out, or maybe just being gutless because it will have to be indoors once it is cut up and my other cars are taking up all the indoor space.

In any case VERY COOL! Looking like you are in the lead at lap 2, and doing great. Cant wait to see more.

looking cool so far. i was thinking about the windscreen should i ever bother to do one, i'd probably have a hole in the body and have the windscreen as one (or three) parts that drop into the hole and secured with a bolt or two.

I have most everything figured out except the windscreen. Here's the prob; here in southern New Mexico the fine folks in uniform (with the little flashing lights) have this thing about tint, especially on windshields and front side glass. I want to be able to drive the hell out of this thing, and from what I can make out from my research, I am not sure the "boat" windsheild will hold up. I can make out three thin aluminum (?) braces behind the windscreen, and that could cause problems with obstructing view from drivers seat (what the cops might say). If you do the research, you will see that at least the drivers door can be opened, but that means the side glass (plexi) is not attached and supporting the front. You can tell I have been thinking the hell out of this...... If I make the side glass attached to the front (weld the doors shut) that would support the front, getting in and out would be over the back, not a problem but..... I could go on all night. Am I over thinking this?

Heres what you need to cut off on your truck and heres a good side shot and a couple more pics for reference too btw This will be soo killer when its done,have you sourced a 70-72 Grill shell? you could prob get away with spraying some 71-72 grill inserts black and no one would really notice but the truck in the movie is a 1970 F100



Also as for tailites ,just do what a Dave G. on here who runs www.madmaxmodels.com who made a replica of "Lord Humungus's truck and added these magnetized tailites for when he had to drive on the street

Getting closer, looks great so far. Not a lot different than some of the res trucks I've seen LOL. What part of NM are you in? (I'm from Flagstaff, living in NY)

Awesome,now she's starting to come to life,all you need is some diamond plated steel fro the back part or you could get away with using aluminum? PLEEZE finish this thing too man don't give up
