War-Rig skeleton-arm decal

Postby DAnconiaLead » Mon Jun 06, 2016 6:55 am

I'm an OTR Commercial-Driver and therefore have LIMITED opportunities to drive my personal vehicle.

Several months ago, I returned home to find that my '97 Jeep XJ, which I had purchased used for $500, had "given up the ghost" and will not turn over. Given it's other pre-existing problems, I'm looking to replace this vehicle and have been using rentals during my brief interludes at home.

While shopping on e-bay motors for a new vehicle, e-bay must have cross referenced my purchase of a Mad Max T-shirt with my vehicle shopping and suggested the following decal, featuring the 'skeleton-arm' from Furiosa's War-Rig;

As soon as I find a vehicle, I'm definitely going to purchase one of these, in a complementary color, for the vehicle...

Furthermore, if I can confirm that the decal is removable, then I will purchase a second for 'my' truck (which is actually owned by the company)....

I thought that you-guys might also be interested in this...

IF any of you do purchase one, please tell me if it's removable...

BTW; I'm NOT the seller of this item

The idea occurs that you could apply the decal to some of that flexible magnetic sign material and trim off the excess.

Removable and reappliable to any vehicle with steel doors.

comments on both posts:

1st. generally a vinyl decal can be put on and taken off. but, when it's put on it's supposed to stay on until you want to remove it by peeling it or with a razor. it's not meant to put on in the morning and take off in the afternoon - it'll rip, it'll stretch, it'll get ruined. if you want a decal you can take off in a couple of years? go for it! (but keep in mind the paint under it will be a different shade than around it)

2. getting a magnetic decal is only a good idea for like, a commercial vehicle for a company. the reason why i say that is no one wants to steal a business's name address and phone number off the side of a truck. i come from the ghostbusters nerds online community where every schmuck with a white vehicle that runs buys the ghostbusters logo on a magnet for their car doors and then gets angry that their door logos are always stolen. i dont recommend getting a magnetic decal.

if i were to get a decal for my car it'd be vinyl.

The other issue with vinyl decals is that when you take them off you'll have an outline due to fading, which can be noticable on some colour vehicles within just a couple of months of summer sunshine!
Whoever they send here, we're gonna catch 'em, we're gonna cook 'em, and we're gonna eat 'em!

as a follow up, if you're looking to do the MFP police logo on the side of your car it's best to get that as a magnet so you can take it on and off. there's still a risk of it being stolen, but 40 bucks for a stolen magnetic decal vs 150+ticket and possibly more penalties for getting a real cop who's having a bad day or wants to dick around with someone's life is worth the small loss.

i've been looking into this for my car and i'm much likelier to go with a magnet - even though earlier i said to go with vinyl - that pertains to the war rig skeleton arm not the MFP badge. so, clarification:

war rig arm - vinyl. wont get stolen easily. more permanent use
mfp logo - magnetic. so it can be put on and off. for show. occasional use.

Was going to do several different "badges" in magnet (For a car project that I haven't been able to do yet) so I could swap 'em whenever I felt like.

My designs included the MFP badge, my own FX Avatar in white on black and bronze on black.
(Local business quoted me $60 for an 18x24 sheet printed with my designs, but I'd have to cut them myself)

Back burnered the idea with the choice of the shiny silver 2000 Mustang over the battered Black 1998 Mustang GT.
