How many of you primarily watch it in 3D?

Postby levcore » Tue Jul 26, 2016 5:17 am

I'm a huge fan of 3D, I buy every live action 3D blu ray released and I love the format. I watch Fury Road roughly about once a month and always go for the 3D version. I love the 2D version too of course but for me it really shines in 3D and the conversion team did superlative work on it. There is so much attention to detail in the conversion it's astounding and it is by far one of the best I have ever seen.

I appreciate 3D is not for everyone but I know there are quite a few fans out there. Anyone else on this forum usually go for the 3D blu when watching?

I absolutely hate 3D with a passion and will always go to a 2D showing unless I want to hear the film in iSense. I don't think I'd ever get a 3D screen at home.

And there we go with the hating. Lol it actually happened quicker than I expected!

Thanks for sharing the negativity.

Did you just seriously dismiss someone's right to share an opinion because it didn't line up with yours?

You asked a question, I gave an answer. Thats how questions work in case you don't know. If you don't want answers then don't ask questions.

I am interested to see what Fury Road would be like on a home TV that has 3D but I just don't like cinema 3D at all.

Please show me where I dismissed their opinion.

lol thanks for clearing that up. I was genuinely not aware how questions and answers work. Try to be a bit more patronising next time!

Seriously you wonder why no one posts here anymore

My television is about 15 years old, so no. I have seen a couple 3D movies in theaters and thought it was kind of a neat little novelty but has too many negatives to make it worthwhile for home viewing. Backgrounds always look unfocused to me and it feels like I'm not seeing the whole picture. Plus I hate wearing glasses inside. Just my personal experience. I'm sure others swear by it.

I love 3D but avoid it in the cinema if possible, seems to work better for me in the home setting.

The only issue I have it is that most home releases are cropped which is the peak of stupidity. Compare the full screen glory of I Robot to the cropped view of nearly everything else. Rights owners please take note. ;)

Not sure if its even technically viable to do 3D in black and white but a 3D version of Black and Chrome Fury Road would rock my world for sure and possibly be enough to sway some mindsets on the format.

Most 3D releases aren't cropped, it's just the aspect ratio they were shot in. You cite I, Robot as a non cropped example but they actually opened up the aspect ratio for the 3D blu ray especially. The previous 2D version and the way it was shot was with the widescreen black bars at the top and bottom.

The same was done for Avatar and Titanic 3D blu rays.

It just depends what ratio the director wanted to shoot in. I agree fullscreen 3D looks better but a lot of directors still opt for the letterboxed widescreen look.
